Ribosomes perform the function of protein synthesis.
Explanation:
Ribosomes are associated with the cell organelle endoplasmic reticulum. The functions of a cell are performed by the collective action of various cell organelles. Endoplasmic reticulum is one such cell organelle.
Endoplasmic reticulum contains ribosomes on its surface. Such types of endoplasmic reticulum are called rough endoplasmic reticulum. Endoplasmic reticulum that lacks ribosomes can also be found in a cell.
This is called smooth endoplasmic reticulum and it has the function of lipid synthesis.
