Describe the two-stage liefcycle of plants: the gametophyte stage and the sporophyte stage. Support your answer with examples.

    Answer: gametophyte produces motile gamates known as spermatozoa (male gamate) and non motile produces female gamate known as ovum. And sporophyte produces spores

    Explanation:

    During gametophyte water is essential for fertilization between spermatozoa and ovum, the ovum will later developed into Zygote, which latter grows to gametophyte and latter sporophyte which produces spores. these spores are dispersed, when they fall on suitable environment, the develop into gametophyte. examples of organism that undergo alternation of generation are liverwort, moss, and fern

    Gametophyte stage: It is a stage in which organism is formed from a spore which is haploid means having half number of chromosome. The organisms produced also have half number of chromosome. In this stage the organisms formed by means of sexual reproduction.

    Sporophyte stage: In this stage, haploid sperm cell combine with haploid egg cell forming diploid zygote. The zygote has double number of chromosome. It is produced from asexual means.
