Anaerobic cellular respiration does not require the presence of oxygen as in aerobic respiration. In addition, anaerobic respiration is less efficient by producing only 2 molecules of ATP and aerobic produces 38.

Anaerobic respiration uses two degradative pathways: glycolysis and fermentation. Aerobic respiration uses 3 ways: glycolysis, Krebs cycle and oxidative or electron transport chain
