    During genetic variation, decrease or increase both can happen. This both can occur by natural mutation or human-made mutation. An increase in genetic variation usually improves a species character. This improvement can occur on many sides, such as resistance, better growth, better yield, etc.

    But when a decrease happens in genetic variation, it causes harm to a species. A decrease in genetic variation means a reduction in the total character of any species.

    As an example, now Wheat s is resistant to wheat blast disease. Somehow, a decrease occurs in genetic variation of Wheat. As a result, that Wheat will be susceptible to the wheat blast disease because it will lose it's resistant against that disease.

    For this reason, decreased genetic variation in a species considered a negative impact of genetic technologies.
