Where in the cell does most cellular respiration occur

During respiration, glycolysis occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell. In this solution, found on the interior of the cell, glucose is broken down. The product, pyruvate, is then transferred into the mitochondrial matrix inside of the mitochondria.
