The carboxyhaemoglobin reduces the blood's capacity for carrying oxygen, inhibiting the transport, delivery, and uptake of oxygen in the body ... An increase in carboxyhaemoglobin in the blood means less oxygen is delivered to tissues, meaning the cells are starved of oxygen and will eventually die.
