Over the past 100 years, there has been a constant mortality rate of 15 deaths per 1,000 individuals per year. Assuming that the population of the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area has not changed in the past 10 years, what is the total mortality in the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area the past 5 years?

    Deaths per 1000 in last 100years = 15.

    Assuming population hasn't changed in last 10years what's the mortality rate.

    Therefore; Mortality rate for last 100years

    Years * Deaths per 1000

    = 100 * 15

    = 1500 deaths

    Considering population hasn't changed in last 10years.

    Mortality rate for last 5years

    = 5/1500 * 150000

    = 500
