Answer: Enzymes are proteins that act as biological catalysts.
Explanation: Catalysts lower the activation energy for reactions. The lower the activation energy for a reaction, the faster the rate. Thus enzymes speed up reactions by lowering activation energy. Or in other words, enzymes speed up chemical reactions that take place by lowering the activation energy.
