Thin walls easily allow water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other nutrient and waste substances to exchange between blood cells and the surrounding tissue better.

Capillary are pretty thin they only allow one blood cell at a time to flow through. These thin walls allow water, oxygen, carbon dioxide and other nutrients and waste substances to exchange between blood cells and other surrounding tissues!
