    Therefore, the mean arterial pressure is determined by e. cardiac output and b. resistance of the arterioles

    Explanation:

    Mean arterial pressure (MAP) is the average blood pressure of an individual during a particular cardiac cycle. It can be determined by cardiac output (CO), central venous pressure (CVP) and the systemic vascular resistance (SVR).

    Therefore, the Mean arterial pressure can be calculated by:

    systemic vascular resistance = (Mean Arterial Pressure - central venous pressure) / Cardiac Output

    SVR = (MAP - CVP) / CO

    or,

    MAP = (CO * SVR) + CVP

    Since, CVP is generally 0 mmHg, the equation can be simplified to:

    MAP approx = CO * SVR
