You're in a restaurant thats divided into "smoking" and "nonsmoking" sections. There's a partition between the two sections, but the partition doesn't reach the ceiling. Despite the fact that you're seated in the nonsmoking section, you're bothered by the smell of cigarette smoke during your meal. Explain why the cigarette smoke was present in the nonsmoking section of the restaurant. In your explanation, use the following terms: diffusion, molecules, higher concentration, and lower concentration

Due to the rules of diffusion, molecule in an area of high concentration (like the smoking area), want to enter an area of low concentrations (like the nonsmoking area).

The smoke molecules are rising up becuase smoke is less dense than air. Becuase of the smoke rising up, there is a higher concentration of smoke on the upper side of the room which it is then able to reach over the partition
