The microorganisms in tube A are obligate aerobes because they live in the area of the tube where there's oxygen. These organisms rely on aerobic respiration to make usable energy for life processes.

Tube B contains obligate anaerobes because they live where there's little to no oxygen. These organisms produce ATP using anaerobic processes.

The organisms in tube C live in both high - and low-oxygen environments. They're facultative anaerobes. They can use both aerobic and anaerobic processes to create ATP.
