    1. The right answer is chromosomes.

The purpose of cell division (mitosis or meiosis) is to obtain identical or non-identical cells with genetic material. That is why during the division there is a reworking of the chromosomes (carrier of the genetic information) which will distribute the chromosomes equitably on the two daughter cells. if the distribution is not equitable, it leads to genetic diseases such as trisomy 21.

    2. Importance of mitosis and meiosis:

Mitosis is a crucial step in the cancer process. Mitosis is the cell division that allows an equal distribution of genetic information from an initial mother cell to two daughter cells while retaining the karyotype over the cell generations.

Meiosis is a cell division that, alternately with fertilization, plays a key role in sexual reproduction, reducing the number of chromosomes in gametes by half, thereby preserving the number of chromosomes of the species after fertilization.
