This violates the Lacey Act of 1900. This act, or treaty, essentially prohibits the sale or trade of wildlife, plants, etc, that have been illegally possessed, acquired, sold, etc.

CITES is a multilateral convention to preserve endangered plants and animals.

It was outlined as a consequence of a declaration ratified in 1963 at a gathering of members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. This treaty formally started in 1975, restricts the trade of prohibited and threatened species globally. The treaty incorporates the sale of wild animals and plants and aims to protect species from a trade that occurs in a menace to their endurance. There are presently 181 gatherings within the convention, including the United States.
