    Cerebrospinal fluid is a colourless and clear fluid which is present in the central nervous system that is spinal cord and brain. This is produced in the ventricles of the brain by the ependymal cells found in the choroid plexus.

    The CSF is absorbed by the arachnoid granulations from the ventricles of the brain. It is known as the cushion of the brain as it provides mechanical and immunological protection.

    The central axis extends to the spinal cord and is filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
