Usually when the inheritance patterns are studied, three generations are used and observed:
• P or parental generation represents the first set of parents crossed
• F1 generation is the first filial generation which consists of all the offspring from the parents (P generation)
• F2 generation or second filial generation consists of the offspring from allowing the F1 individuals to interbreed.
