ADH is secreted by the pituitary gland as part of positive feedback loop in homeostasis when the body is need or has excess water. Concentration of solutes in the blood is also used to regulate the release of ADH by osmoreceptors in the hypothalamus. This will in turn cause a person to drink too much water and excrete dilute urine, a condition called diabetes insipidus.
