The correct answer will be more ATP is produced than is used.

    Explanation:

Glycolysis is a metaboilc process which converts the glucose (6C) molecule to form 2 molecules of pyruvic acid (3C) molecules, 2 ATP and 2 NADH.

Glycolysis is the first step of cellular respiration which takes place in the cytosol of the cell. This process involves many intermediate reaction which are phosphorylation, lysis, oxidation and ATP formation.

    1. During ATP investment phase or phosphorylation, glucose is phosphorylated to form glucose bis-phosphate utilizing 2 molecules of ATP.

    2. During ATP formation, the energy released from the sugar intermediates (1,3-phosphogylecrate and phosphoenol pyrauvate) is used to synthesise ATP via a process called substrate level phosphorylation producing total of 4 ATP.

2 ATP are used while 4 ATP are produced in glycolysis process shows that more ATP is produced than is used.

Hence, more ATP is produced than is used is the correct answer.

Glycolysis requires an investment of 2 ATP, but it yields a total of 4 ATP, netting 2 ATP. So more ATP is produced than is used.
