    Explanation:

    A tetraploid cell is a cell that has four sets of chromosomes i. e. 4n. Meiosis is a kind of cell division that reduces the chromosomal number of the daughter cells (gametes) by half.

    Hence, a tetraploid cell will undergo meiosis to produce daughter cells (gametes) that have a diploid number of chromosomes each (2n). Since Meiosis is a reduction division, it occurs in a two-step division process viz: Meiosis I and II. Meiosis I involves separation of homologous chromosomes while meiosis II involves separation of replicated chromosomes.

    In this case, a tetraploid (4n) will have two sets of chromosomes separated into opposite cells during meiosis I. This reduces the chromosome number into 2n (diploid).
