The cylindrical bundle of nerve fibers and associated tissue which is enclosed in the spine and connects nearly all parts of the body to the brain, with which it forms the central nervous system.

Act as a messenger in central nervous system
Explanation:
Spinal cord is the part of central nervous system (CNS). It is able to respond to the sensory messages received from different body organs through neurons.
A brain act as the command center of the body while spinal cord act as the messenger to carry messages from brain to other body parts or vice versa.
It is located in the vertebral foramen and consists of 31 sub parts which include -
a) cervical - 8 in numbers
b) Thoracic - 12 in numbers
c) Lumbar - 5 in numbers
d) Sacral - 5 in numbers
e) coccygeal - 1 in numbers
