At a crime scene, a 31mm House fly larvae is found on a corpse and collected as evidence. The police officer on the scene checks the temperate and sees that it is 80 degrees outside. If it is 80 degrees outside, how will the temperate effect the size of the larvae?

    for insect, their rate of development can be affect by temperature changes. The ambient temperature affect it development mostly. When their bodies is exposed to large amounts of sunlight the body will heat up and give the insects a warmer area to grow. When the insect body is found in shaded areas the body temperature will be cooler and the insects will require longer time to grow. But if temperature is at extreme level and very cold, insects will to prolong their development time to when the condition is favourable.

    For housefly, it takes eggs takes about 20 hours to hatch into larva. But when the temperature is high at about 99 degrees Fahrenheit, the eggs could hatch in less than 8 hours and mature from larvae to pupae to adult flies in four days.

    optimal temperature for larval development in degree celcius is 35 to 38°C, though larval survival is greatest at 17 to 32°C and mature faster if the temperature increases.

    For 80 degrees fahrenhiet or about 35°c the larvae will complete their development in about 4-13days and the size will increase and move to a pupae and then adult.
