What advance in technology will aid the transition to a more sustainable energy furure

I would think any advance in a renewable resource would be beneficial. Especially if this advancement is cheaper than average. Stuff like solar panels are effective it's just the pricing that throws people off most of the time. So I believe an advancement in renewable energy would be best for a transition.
