    Estuaries are the wetlands that receives water from rivers or any other freshwater source and also from ocean. Therefore, the type of water freshwater or saline water present in the estuary depends upon the drainage of water from these two sources. The estuary ecosystem is drastically affected by the changes that occur in the salinity levels. Therefore, the animals which are not tolerated to high salinity levels cannot survive.
