Cells require energy to power their biochemical processes. The power currency of cells is ATP. ATP is made through cellular respiration (glycolysis and Krebs Cycle). Glucose is the main substrate used by cells from which energy is derived. Its bonds are broken down by enzymes and the energy used fo make ATPs.
