If the research shows that the reduction in the number of small fish is to blame for the malnourishment of the sea lions, they are likely to see an increase in the amount of deaths and a decrease in the amount of births. Explain how the reduction in the amount of fish has an impact on the population of a different species, like the sea lion. If we assume that Orcas feed on sea lions, how would the decrease in the number of small fish affect the Orcas?

The sea lion feeds on fish. The Orcas feed on sea lions.

Less fish means the sea lions will spend more time in water trying to find food. The more time they spend in water the more energy they'll spend.

The more energy they spend on trying to find food the less energy they'll have for reproduction and raising offspring.

Additionally, the more time they spend in water the greater chances they'll get eaten by Orcas.

Eventually the sea lion will have less offspring and population will drop.

Meaning there will be less food for Orcas. Thus Orcas will have less enegry for reproduction and wheir population will eventually drop.
