    It is age related progressive decrease in the ability of eye lens to focus clearly on the object especially the near or close objects.

    It is a natural phenomenon in which eye lens hardens with age. Less flexibility prevents it from changing shape to focus on close or near objects.

    It usually starts at the age of 40 years and patients face difficulties in reading phone texts, books or newspaper etc.

    They keep these things at arm's length from the eyes in order to read them properly.

    However, it creates strain on their eyes and causes headaches.

    The treatment includes use of corrective lenses and surgery.
