    The genes are present on the same chromosomes and inherited together in an organism is known as linked genes.

    Explanation:

    Linked genes do not assort independently and result in the formation of recombinants. The distance between the linked gene determine the recombination frequency of the offspring.

    These genes donot follow the Mendel's law of heredity and may get separate due to crossing over during the process of meiosis.
