    Vesicles Carry Cargo. Most molecules, including proteins, are too large to pass directly through membranes. Vesicles are constantly forming - especially at the plasma membrane, the ER, and the Golgi. Once formed, vesicles deliver their contents to destinations within or outside of the cell.
