In pea seeds yellow color is dominant to green color and a round shape is dominant to a wirkinkled shape a dihybrid cross between a true breeding plant with yellow round seed and a true breeding plant with green wrinkled seeds results in an F1 generation of plants with yellow round seeds crossing two F1 plants produces an F2 generation with apporximately nine times as amny plants with yellow round seeds as plants with green wrinkled seeds. Which statement best explains these results?

    See below.

    Explanation:

    Let the allele for colour be C (c) and the allele for shape be S (s).

    True breeding yellow plant with round seed = CCSS

    True breeding green plant with wrinkled seed = ccss

    crossing the two;

    CCSS x ccss = CcSs (yellow colour with round seeds)

    All the F1 offspring are yellow with round seeds (CcSs).

    Selfing CcSs to produce F2 generation results in:

    9 Yellow, round seeded

    3 Yellow, wrinkle seeded

    3 Green, round seeded

    1 Green, wrinkle seeded.

    The inheritance pattern of the two traits follow the law of independent assortment of genes as described by Mendel 2nd law of genetics. Medel stated that characters are inherited independently of one another.
