The PCD or primary cilia dyskinesia is a rare disorder, which influences tiny hair-like compositions, which surrounds the airways. These compositions are known as cilia. PCD is an inherited disorder, that is, the disorder is transferred from the parents to children via genes.

The motile cilia are found on the lining cells of the trachea. The cilia move in combination in a coordinated wave, assisting in pushing the contaminated fluids and mucus out of the respiratory tract. When the cilia exhibit motility issues, these secretions are not cleared and respiratory infections become the common outcome.
