    Important conclusions form Mendelian experiments are:

    • The inheritance of each trait is determined by "units" or "factors" (we call it genes today) that are passed on offspring unchanged

    • An individual inherits one unit from mother and another from father (for each trait)

    • A trait may not show up in an individual but can still be passed on to the next generation (allele).
