A lysogenic life cycle means that the virus can hide in the host cell for a long period of time by implanting itself into the DNA of the host cell and when that cell divides, it takes the virus with it. Overall, the lytic cycle is the fastest and most dangerous method of reproduction of a virus, although the lysogenic cycle lasts for much longer.
