    When the sun is tilted towards the southern hemisphere it will receive maximum amount of sunlight and will have the hottest day as summers. This occurs on 21 December when the direct sunlight falls on the Southern hemisphere having longest day. During this time the Northern Hemisphere is having the shortest day as it is tilted away from the sun.
