Should ants be considered as a colony or a colonial organism?

Like humans, ants are social. They live and work together in highly organized called colonies. In fact, most ant colonies are so united toward the common purposes of survival, growth, and reproduction that they behave like a single organism, or a "superorganism"

They should be since ants are many physically connected, interdependent individuals.
