The humans are both part of the evolution and interfering with it at the same time in the present, as well as in the recent past.

The interference in the evolution by the humans can be seen in the creation of the new species, mostly in what we call domestic animals. The natural process would be natural selection in the breeding, but the humans took that in their own hands, so they allowing only certain animals with certain features to breed. That led to lot of new species and subspecies of animals. A perfect example is the wolf. It became domesticated, and over time the humans started mating certain wolfs with certain features, even with bad mutations only with the ones that were the same, which eventually led to the likes of the chihuahua and the bulldog.

An example of evolution caused by the actions of the humans are the elephants in Africa. Because of over-hunting because of the tusks of the elephants, lot of elephants either started to develop very small tusks, or even totally lose them, as an adaptation to be less ''attractive'' prey for the humans.
