How does food move around in a plant?

    Answer: The movement of water throughout a plant is driven by the loss of water through it's leaves, or transpiration. The water molecules that move through the xylem are connected in a continuous "stream" ... To get the food made in the leaves to other parts of the growing plant requires energy.
