2. Why is the difference between the speed of 100m race (10.44 meters per second) and

5000 m (6.60 meters per second) so much larger than the difference in speed between

the 5000m (6.60 meters per second) and the 10,000 (6.34 meters per second) ?

    The difference between the speed of 100m race and 5000m race is larger because the difference between speed is more.

    Explanation:

    In the question given above we can see that in the first case the difference between both the distances that is 100m and 5000m is 4900m that is, (5000-100). On the other hand the difference between the distance in the second case is (10000-5000) that is 5000m.

    By comparing both the cases we can see that there is a difference of 100. Thus, we can say as the runner covers a distance of 100m it takes 10.44 m/sec and 5000m at 6.60m/sec, the speed difference is more.
