How have public health measures worked in the past to eradicate disease from parts of the world?

    The only infectious diseases that have been completely eradicated so far are smallpox and rinderpest. Public education about any disease is an important step. You also need to develop a vaccine. A worldwide vaccination program was created in the case of smallpox. Anyone who showed symptoms was quickly quarantined and given a vaccination.
