Scientists have noted that at present the earth is closest to the Sun in January and farthest from the Sun in July. The reverse will be true in 13,000 years and the Earth will be closer to the Sun in July than January. How would this change affect the climate in the Northern Hemisphere.

A. Winters would be cooler and summers warmer because of the closer proximity of the Earth to the sun.

B. Winters would be warmer and summers cooler because of the closer proximity of the Earth to the Sun.

C. Winters would be shorter and summer longer because of the closer proximity of the Earth to the Sun.

    C. Winters would be shorter and summer longer because of the closer proximity of the Earth to the Sun.

    Explanation:

As the earth rotates around the sun in an elliptical orbit and the presence of earth close to the sun on Jan is due to the earth rotation as the planet comes closer to the sun on July the temperature in summers will be warmer and night will be longer. If the sun remains a way for the earth on the Jan month the winter will be quiet cold and hence summers will be short and thus the duration of sun rays and the angle of incidence also impact the development of the sun's effect on the surface. Hence the winters will be shorter but will be colder and the summer will be quite long as the proximity of the earth towards the sun is affected by that of earth tilted axis.

    Option A,

    Reason:

If we consider the fact given in the question

    a) when the earth is closer to the sun, winters occur

Thus it will get must get colder in 13,000 years when the earth is far way from the sun.
