Tissue is defined as a group of cells which are similar in structure and may perform same or different function. In plants tissues are classified on the basis of their ability to divide. The tissue which has ability to divide is meristematic tissue and and which have lost the capacity to divide is permanent tissue. Animal tissues are classified on the basis of their origin (from ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm) and their function.
