    Particles can have both kinetic and potential energy at a time. Because these are drive by the forces of motion or stillness of motion. Energy rules works on the law of conservation of energy which states "Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed" while it can be transformed one form to another form. Let's discuss the types of energy with examples -

    Kinetic Energy - It can be simply defined as when an object is in motion it is said to be in kinetic form which has kinetic energy. Consider a car with mass m and moving with velocity v and kinetic energy of the car can be determined by - K. E = ½*m*v.

    Potential Energy - Potential energy can be stated as the object in rest position. Let's consider a ball of mass m and is elevated on the top of the building of height h so the potential energy can be calculated - P. E = mgh

    g = acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s2)

    Let us take an example for a particle which has both kinetic and potential energy.

    Consider an object which is falling from a building of height 50m and the object is 25m away from the ground, in this case the object comprises 50% of kinetic energy and 50% of potential energy.
