A simple schematic of a dammed river is shown above. In which area of the diagram would there be an increase in silt deposition compared to a decrease in fertile soil?

    Increased silt deposition would occur at A while decreased fertile soil would occur at B. Flooded areas before a dam would have higher silt deposition, which would prevent the natural flow of water and silt deposition downstream.
