Eukaryotic cells have a defined nucleus. The nucleus is the command center of the cell. The work "karyon" comes from a Greek word that means "grain" or "seed". Scientists use this word to describe the nucleus. Multicellular organisms such as animals, plants, and fungi, have eukaryotic cells.
