    Similarities:

    Both are changes.

Observations:Volume change,"Change in State" "Gases being given off"->Appearance, Heat given off/absorbed

Both are accompanied by energy changes.

New products (Reactants--> Products) are formed as a result of both of the reactions.

Both involve changes in state of matter.

    Differences:

A chemical change produces a new substance (Only state is changed) while a physical change does not produce a new substance (chemical composition is changed).

A chemical change is irreversible while a physical change is reversible.

    E. g. CH4 + 2O2 - - >Co2 + 2H2O

The starting and ending materials/substance of a chemical change are different while for a physical change, they are the same, even though they may look different.

When a substance experiences a chemical change, its chemical composition changes but for physical change, it keeps the same chemical composition.

Physical change rearranges molecules but doesn't affect their internal structures while chemical change involves making or breaking of bonds between atoms.

    Both of them changes

The difference is that physical changes can be reverse while chemical change is irreversible
