    As the individual body size of an organism increases, the population density for this organism in a given habitat tends to decrease.

    It has been shown that an inverse relationship between the size of an animal and its local abundance exist. Animals with larger body size have higher energetic requirements, resource exploitation, and susceptibility to predation and thus the competition is bigger. Yet, the density-body size relation depends on the physical complexity of the habitat and population of a species.
