In what way is living on earth similar to living on an island?

Living on earth is similar to living on an island because its all about survival and the resources are limited. For instance living on earth the things you need to do to obtain food and provide shelter. Obtaining a job and or multiple jobs. Also figuring out a place to live whether its nothing but land and trees or if its in a beach front condo. Living on an island you have to figure out ways to find food/hunt, cook it, also make a shelter for your self if there isn't one. In all reality both situations have similarities and pro's and con's.
