If a species becomes over specialized, it faces extinction.
This is because it is perfect for one task, so if this task no longer exists then the species is unable to perform another.
For example, if the species was perfect for eating grass and only grass, it is reliant on the grass for survival.
If all the grass disappears the species would starve and become extinct.
