Most living things need energy from the Sun. Green leaves on plants use sunlight, air, water, and nutrients to make food. Plants use the food to live and grow. Animals use energy to move and to eat, then letting energy out. It's a natural cycle.

Life is a very big term. Our energy comes from calories. Some plants are autotrophic organisms (organisms that produce their own food) these plants use sunlight to produce glucose through photosynthesis and they use the glucose to make their body function normally.

Heterotrophic plants get their energy from other living organisms.
