Explain why mitosis alone does not produce daughter cells

    1. Because the cytoplasm has to divide - this is called cytokinesis and occurs at the end of telophase.

    2. Prophase is longest phase of mitosis.

    Cytokinesis is needed (sorry did not spell that correctly) in order to create the daughter cells.
