Analysis of sections of dna that have little or no known function, but vary widely from one individual to another, in order to identify individuals

This analysis is used to identity individuals DNA fingerprinting. DNA fingerprinting is usually used for identification purposes for criminal investigations. To start the process one must take a sample of a person's DNA. Hair, blood or semen are all acceptable choices for a sample. The sample is then isolated and DNA is extracted from the cells and purified.
